Rochelle Park's History
Rochelle Park, once part of Midland Township was formed when a group of people wanted a better school system, sidewalks, city water and a sewage system. The farmers of the Paramus ares of Midland Township did not want the added tax burden so in 1922 a referendum to make Paramus a seperate municipality was passed. Now the newly formed Rochelle Park (1.1 squares miles) with a population of 1,000 began to grow and slowly became a moden suburban community.
